Mia and the HealthQuest Dragon

Mia and the HealthQuest Dragon is the first book in the HealthQuest Series, created by pediatric nurse practitioner April Jones as part of her lifelong mission to make health literacy accessible, engaging, and empowering for every child and family.

Through her work in pediatric clinics and community programs, April saw how early understanding of wellness—nutrition, movement, emotions, and confidence—can shape a child’s lifelong health. But she also saw how confusing or inaccessible health information often is for families. That inspired her to create HealthQuest, a gamified wellness platform that turns health literacy into an interactive adventure, and to write Mia and the HealthQuest Dragon as its storybook companion.

Blending evidence-based practice with heartfelt storytelling, Mia and the HealthQuest Dragon helps children discover that caring for their body and mind can be joyful—not overwhelming.

The book is published under Equilibria Books, an imprint of Equilibria Insights, reflecting April’s belief that balance—between body, mind, and community—is the foundation of health.

April’s focus has never been profit—it’s partnership. She collaborates with schools, PTAs, community organizations, and healthcare systems to bring wellness literacy into classrooms, clinics, and homes. Every partnership helps expand access to wellness tools, supporting her vision that every child deserves the chance to understand and care for their health.

Because when health literacy is accessible, every child becomes the hero of their own story.
