Q&A with the Founder

April Jones CPNP

What is the mission of HealthQuest?
HealthQuest was built to empower children to grow into confident, emotionally resilient, and health-literate humans—without lectures or shame. We believe kids learn best through curiosity, play, and small daily wins. But growth doesn’t happen in isolation. The best outcomes occur when families are supported, too. That’s why HealthQuest also provides guardians with practical tools and tips to help kids build healthy habits. Together, we’re creating a supportive, engaging, and empowering environment for the whole family.

Why did you create HealthQuest?
HealthQuest was born from my deep commitment to addressing childhood obesity and disordered eating—issues I’ve seen firsthand over 20 years in healthcare, especially as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in a childhood obesity clinic. Traditional methods often fail to engage kids. HealthQuest takes a different approach—using gamified, fun, and interactive lessons to help families learn and grow together.

What is your experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner?
For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner focused on childhood obesity and related health concerns. In addition to clinical care, I’ve led education efforts and worked alongside families to support healthier lifestyles. These experiences shaped HealthQuest to reflect real-world needs and challenges.

How do you believe we can break the stigma surrounding weight?
We break weight stigma by shifting the conversation—from blame to empowerment, from shame to support. HealthQuest encourages kids and families to focus on health, not appearance. Through education, reflection, and play, we help build compassion, resilience, and self-confidence in a safe, judgment-free space.

What motivated you to focus on Generation Alpha?
Generation Alpha is growing up surrounded by tech, social media, and constant messaging about health and body image. Reaching them early with playful, positive, and empowering content is critical. HealthQuest meets them where they are—with interactive tools that speak their language and support real change.

How does your background lend credibility to HealthQuest?
With over two decades in healthcare—including a decade as a PNP—I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t when it comes to kids’ health. I’ve collaborated with schools, healthcare systems, and families, and I know the value of tools that are fun, flexible, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

What are your long-term goals for HealthQuest?
Our long-term goal is to become the go-to platform for child health and wellness. We’re working to expand into schools, clinics, and homes—supporting kids and caregivers with engaging education and real-time tools. We also aim to shape public health policy by showing how early intervention and digital innovation can drive lasting change.

What kind of impact do you hope to achieve with HealthQuest?
We want to improve health outcomes—lowering childhood obesity rates, strengthening mental wellness, and helping kids develop lifelong healthy habits. With the right tools and support, we believe this generation can grow up stronger, happier, and more empowered than ever before.

How can sponsors support HealthQuest?
Investors can help us scale our vision. With additional support, we’ll enhance app features, build out new content, and expand access to underserved communities. We’re seeking partners who share our belief that kids deserve fun, meaningful tools to shape their health and their future.
